Manufacturing orders indicator increased slightly

The indicator of manufacturing orders (IPM) recorded an increase of 0.2 points placing in 50.9 points from December 2010. The IPM allows knowing the perception of business leaders on the behavior of the manufacturing sector in the country.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) has announced that this growth was the result of the combination of advances in two of the five components that comprise the indicator and reductions in the remaining three.

The indicator of orders rose 0.8 points, going from 51.9 points to 52.7 points. The component on production advanced 2.2 points and ranked 52.1 points, against 49.8 points.

The employed staff indicator slipped a point and was placed in 49.5 points, against 50.6 points in December from the previous year. The opportunity for the delivery of inputs from suppliers had a decrease of 0.9 points and stood at 48 points; while inventories of supplies fell 2.7 points to locate in 49.7 points.
