Carlos Slim, the 74-year-old Mexican telecom mogul, is first on our list as the richest Mexican alive -he also the second richest person on the planet, only second to Bill Gates. Slim has amassed a net worth of $69.05 through several investments like America Movil, and industrial conglomerate Grupo Carso and a minority stake in the New York Times among other investments.
2. German Larrea Mota Velasco
Net worth: $13.36 billion
Source of wealth: Mining
The 60-year-old Mexican has accumulated a net worth of $13.36 billion. He owns half of Grupo Mexico, the biggest mining and infrastructure company in Mexico. His net worth, however dropped $2 billion according to Forbes due to a drop in price of Grupo Mexico's shares and lower copper prices.

3. Alberto Bailleres Gonzalez

Alberto Bailleres Gonzalez comes in third on our richest Mexicans list. The 82-year-old mining titan has built a net worth estimated at $11.9 billion. Despite his obvious success, his fortune fell $5.8 billion in the last year due to slow economic growth holding back his mining company, according to Forbes.
4. Ricardo Salinas Pliego

Ricardo Salinas, the 58-year-old owner of retail stores, banks and TV businesses, lands fourth on the list. Grupo Elektra, his retail and banking enterprise, have taken a hit this year due to a down-turn in Mexico's economy. Salinas' fortune dropped about $1.6 billion because of the economy. His net worth is estimated at $7.94 billion.
5. Eva Gonda de Rivera
Net worth: $6.59 billion
Source of wealth: Beverages
Eva Gonda de Rivera and her daughters own 27% of the shares of Fomento Economico Mexicano (Femsa), a bottling and convenience store company. Gonda de Rivera enjoyed a gain of $300 million in the past year despite Mexico's economic problems. Her net worth is estimated at $6.59 billion.

6. Maria Asuncion Aramburuzabala

Maria Asuncion Aramburuzabala is the second woman on the list. The 50-year-old's rule as the "Queen of beer" in Mexico came to an end when she decided to swap her stake in Grupo Modelo for cash in 2013 after Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired Grupo Modelo for $20 billion. Her wealth is estimated at $5.16 billion.

He also owns stakes in chemical distributor Grupo Pocheta and Spanish bank Popular Español. His net worth is estimated at $4.76 billion.
